Command 101 Ideas: A Fun and Quirky Approach to Command's Personality

A Unique Corporate Identity Design by Lawrens Tan

The everyday discussion or talks about using products in everyday life is the inspiration behind the Command 101 Ideas logo. It aims to get people excited when they discuss the same topic together, just like how they like the Command Picture Hanging Strips. The logo showcases the practical and creative ways to use Command products, such as holding air-conditioner remotes to make them look as though they're hanging in mid-air, creating a light passageway in the house at night. The logo embodies the limitless possibilities of creativity.

A fun and quirky approach sets Command 101 Ideas apart from other corporate identity designs. It highlights the ideas of using Command products in various ways. The logo features a speech bubble concept, accompanied by 101 ways to use Command products. Each logo in the series depicts the entire range of products, including Picture Hanging Strips, General Purpose Hooks, and the Bathroom Range. To maintain relevance, the logo incorporates the unique selling points of Command, such as the icon of Strips, Hooks, and Caddy.

The realization of the Command 101 Ideas logo involves incorporating the actual products into the identity design. This allows consumers to easily identify the products they are purchasing. Consistency is key, considering the variety of products that Command offers. Therefore, illustrations depicting the products were conceptualized and implemented, creating a close relationship between the logo and Command's distinct products.

Technical specifications require each logo to be at least 3cm x 3cm when reduced. To meet the different product criteria, a color coding system is introduced. Each product range has a unique color code, facilitating easy classification.

The Command 101 Ideas logos are primarily used in below-the-line collaterals such as leaflets, brochures, and POSM materials. The identity provides a uniform feel to the entire event or campaign, effectively conveying the message of 101 fun ways to use Command Damage-Free Products. The color codes are designed in relevance to the product range, making it easy to differentiate in various events.

The Command 101 Ideas project commenced in April 2018 and was completed in January 2019. Extensive research was conducted to capture the essence of everyday discussions and incorporate them into the logo. Command also engaged with DIY bloggers to explore how their products could enhance daily life routines. The logo is prominently featured in Command's roadshow campaigns, showcasing different products in different locations each week.

The design process presented several challenges. The main challenge was implementing the fun factor in the DIY section while highlighting the products and maintaining consistency in the look and feel of the series. Incorporating the products into the logo design, while maintaining a sleek and interactive appearance, proved to be the most difficult aspect.

The Command 101 Ideas logo is a testament to a fun and quirky approach that reflects Command's personality. It highlights the versatility of Command products and encourages consumers to explore creative ways to use them. The logo series effectively captures the essence of Command's distinct product design and serves as a visual representation of their innovative offerings.
